Keep moving forward with 'Tomorrowland'
The road to Tomorrowland starts off slow, but given enough patience, the payoff is worth the time invested. And make no mistake, Tomorrowland is an investment. It is an investment in your mental well-being and in the future, and it makes that point explicitly.
Dystopia, shouts about the end of the world and the newscasts that trumpet disaster, future disaster and the evils of mankind are self-fulfilling prophesies. As people focus themselves on a bleak future, they unwittingly bring that future to pass.
For all the criticism of Tomorrowland being a flop because it did not meet financial expectations at the box office in its first weekend, there are bigger reasons why this film is a success. If it inspires one person to think differently about the world, if it inspires one person to be more optimistic, if it inspires people to look to the future with just a little more positive energy, then Tomorrowland will be successful – box office be damned. Because in the end, life isn’t about how much money you make. It’s about the difference that you make toward creating a better life for everyone else.
Do we need all of the throat clearing at the beginning of Tomorrowland in order to follow the plot? Probably not, no story should ever start at the end and that is the mistake that this one makes. However, we definitely need more movies like Tomorrowland, and the feelings of positivity about the future, that it generates. Find the future you want and work toward. Feed the right wolf.
